Samsung Galaxy S III and Apple iPhone 5 to be waterproof?

By on 00:22

We've already heard about a hundred different rumors about the Galaxy S III specs sheet, but this one is by far one of the most exciting. According to an anonymous tipster, who is said to be working for a large UK retailer the next Samsung flagship will be waterproof. And it won't be the only high-end phone to have such a feature, either - the iPhone 5 will also reportedly resist water.
The rumor has it that the two top-shelf smartphones will feature a special nanocoating over their chips, which is impenetrable by water.

The technology is developed by a company called Liquipel and resembles the Nokia water-resisting coating that we saw in October and the HzO thing from last month.
Thanks to those coatings manufacturers are able to create fully water-proof devices without having to increase their weight and profile. And when we are talking expensive devices like the Galaxy S III and the iPhone 5, such a feature might save quite a lot of money to the more careless users out there.
By the way, Liquipel is offering to apply that same coating to your existing smartphone for $59 to $79. In case you are interested you should follow this link and see if your smartphone is among the ones supported by the company
